Special Invitation for WMF participants to the FORAM Raw Materials Pilot Event

The FORAM 18 Pilot Event will take place in Nancy, on the 27th of June, the day before the World Materials Forum. WMF participants, and their colleagues and partners are welcome to participate at no cost.

The FORAM project, led by the Swiss-based World Resources Forum and funded by the European Commission (DG Growth), is the largest collaborative effort to date to improve global raw materials governance. At this pilot event international governments, researchers, business and other stakeholders will discuss the idea of a World Forum on Raw Materials and other ways to enhancing the international cooperation on raw material policies.

After more than a year of desk research and online web dialogue sessions with hundreds of stakeholders from around the world the event will present and discuss the state-of-the art of available and missing data on primary and secondary raw materials, and recommended policies and business strategies. The event will include briefings and discussions about security of supply, innovation, growth, resource-efficiency, Circular Economy, and Sustainable Development Goals, in an open interactive format.

High-level speakers include Member of European Parliament Gerben-Jan Gerbrandy, Barbara Reck (Yale University), Peder Jensen (UN Environment, International Resource Panel), Stefan Bringezu (University of Kassel), Julian Hilton (UNECE SDG Working Group), Slavko Solar (European Geological Survey), Vitor Correia (European Federation of Geologists), Federico Magalini (United Nations University), WMF Vice-President Victoire de Margerie, and speakers from the European Commission. The event will be moderated by Bas de Leeuw, Managing Director World Resources Forum and Member of the Club of Rome.
